We all watched the Oshkosh interview with Capt. Jason Ambrosi and wanted to provide further context regarding Jeffrey Anderson’s nomination to serve as U.S. Ambassador to ICAO.
According to ALPA’s own published materials, the union identifies seven “Top Priorities” and ten additional “On Our Radar” issues. Captain Anderson supports sixteen of these seventeen initiatives, making him one of the most qualified nominees to advance ALPA’s stated objectives on the global stage. It is surprising that Capt. Ambrosi, who worked as a subordinate under Captain Anderson when Anderson served as ALPA’s Delta MEC Government Affairs Committee Chair, has taken such a strong position against his nomination. His opposition appears more aligned with preserving his own standing as ALPA president than with serving the 80,000 members he represents.
During the podcast, Capt. Ambrosi claimed that Anderson was unqualified and had gone “VFR direct to Congress.” Both assertions are inaccurate. Anderson is a decorated U.S. naval aviator, a 35-year Delta Air Lines Captain, and a former ALPA Government Affairs Committee Chair. The fact is, Anderson approached ALPA leadership with his concerns and was directed to elevate the matter to Congress, acting in full accordance with process, not circumventing it.
Experienced Pilots Advancing Safety (EPAS), a nonprofit professional association representing thousands of Part 121 airline pilots, strongly supports Anderson’s nomination. His record of service and alignment with ALPA’s core safety and policy goals make him an ideal candidate for ICAO.
We believe Capt. Ambrosi’s comments during that interview misrepresented the facts. We simply wanted to set the record straight. We have invited the podcast host to reach out to us directly to discuss this further and to visit our website at WWW.EPASpilot.org
